Builder reparing the roof after a disaster

About the Fund

Rebuilding Hope, One Home at a Time

Following the devastation and widespread destruction to communities along the Gulf Coast caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, leaders in the home building industry banded together to create the Home Building Industry Disaster Relief Fund (HBIDRF), a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization.

The HBIDRF is a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization that was established to assist in rebuilding communities affected by disaster. Since 2005, the HBIDRF has disbursed over $2 million to assist areas across the U.S. affected by natural disasters, including recovery efforts from hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and wildfires.

The HBIDRF is dedicated to helping communities recover and rebuild after natural disasters. Through partnership with local organizations, the fund focuses on restoring homes, supporting families and strengthening communities. Together, we rebuild hope, one home at a time.

How to Apply for the Home Building Industry Disaster Relief Fund

HBIDRF contributes directly to other recognized charities aiming to meet the shelter needs of those affected by natural disasters.

Interested non-profit organizations are able to partner with local home builders associations to apply for grants. This collaboration with the local home building industry is essential to keeping funded projects aligned with the community’s post disaster housing priorities and ensuring assistance reaches those who need it most.

(Note: The HBIDRF does not make assistance available directly to individuals.)
